Plasma Process Setup and Qualification Checklist

A plasma process should be qualified as a complete system that includes gas chemistry, power, pressure, flow, treatment time, chamber condition, fixture design, and product loading. The target may be cleaning, activation, etching, or a combination of these effects.

Preparation

Review the product drawing, material specification, equipment capability, and acceptance criteria before starting. Confirm that measuring tools are calibrated and that the selected samples represent normal production conditions.

Key technical checks

  • Document the substrate, contamination type, downstream process, and measurable treatment target.
  • Map treatment uniformity across representative loads and verify that sensitive materials are not damaged.
  • Monitor contact angle, adhesion, residue removal, and chamber condition with defined control limits.

Verification and documentation

Record the baseline, the variables changed, inspection results, and final settings. Release the process only after repeatability is confirmed against the agreed criteria. Keep the qualified settings, maintenance requirements, and response plan available to operators so that future deviations can be identified and corrected quickly.
